Dear Community and  good day,

Please allow me to introduce you to S.M.A.R.T. (SINGLE MOTHERS ARE REALLY TRYING). We are a non-profit (501c3) organization that desires to make a difference and take the lead in providing temporary, safe housing and support services for women and children that are homeless, ex- offenders, recovering from drug or alcohol dependency, and victims of abuse.

SMART INC. will hopefully be opening its door for services by or before December 2009 in Chester , PA. As we are in anticipation of launching, we are asking our muslim communities  to make dua for us. We would like to allow the women and children the opportunity  to benefit from what we are offering. In like, SMART INC. would like to humbly solicit funding opportunities, support, donations, and any information that you can provide to us. Below is a summary of the services we offer.

Our main goal is to provide quality care, counseling and assistance towards self-sufficiency by offering services in the area of …

·         Drug, alcohol and other chemical depending addictions

·         Spouse abuse

·         Education & Vocation

·         Life Skills work shops

·         Personal counseling ( health & sexual issues )

·         Various other therapeutic groups & counseling  ( anger management  relapse prevention, conflict resolution, thinking for a change, cognitive restructuring self esteem issues, parenting, GED assistant, HIV assistant,  violence prevention , and play therapy for children)

·         Prevention Program for children ages 1  to 10 years old.

·         Structured Day Care Center

The drug, alcohol and  abuse problems that affect the women of  Chester and surrounding areas  is at a all time high. Studies reveal that 16% of women residing in their areas become victims of these problems, per year. Studies also show that their problem increases by 09% per year.  And, although not generally regarded as crisis in and of itself, the lack of education, vocation, and other support services in the community will add to those precipitating factors which lead to drug and alcohol use, victims of abuse, and ultimately the separation  of family units.

In the Chester and surrounding areas there are very few  recovery houses for single or family women with children and none addresses all the various areas S.M.A.R.T. INC. wishes to focus on. We are committed to the health of our community, which means the health and well-being of our women. S.M.A.R.T.’s services  would translate into stable home environments, more education, vocational training, other various information and assistance that would prompt self sufficiency into better economical  circumstances. while at the same time  reducing the cost of….

Law enforcement

Legal representation

Court  activity

Incarceration

Crisis intervention

Psychiatric and psychological services

Medical treatment

Public Housing & public assistance

S.M.A.R.T.  INC. will seek to establish SMART HOMES which will operate as shelter/rehab & treatment  centers. Within these SMART HOMES we will be implementing TC  (therapeutic community ) is best defined as “Community-as-a-healer”.

NO MATTER WHERE YOUR PAST HAS BEEN….. YOUR FUTURE IS SPOTLESS

Thank you very much,

Hajja Rabia Ahmad
